Amarillo, Texas, May 14, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Martha’s Home 8th Annual Second Chance Prom was a huge splash and the Street Auto Group was there! Themed “Enchantment Under the Sea," this "Adult Prom Night" was designed for those who either missed their first prom or wanted that second chance to experience an enchanting evening with their current sweetheart or group of friends!
This year's event was a sellout at the North Exhibit Hall of the Amarillo Civic Center in downtown Amarillo, Texas recently. Evening hosts included Lisa Schmidt of ABC 7 and Wes Reeves of Xcel Energy. Entertainment was provided by the West Texas Panhandle's sensations, the Velvet Funk Band and singer, Michael Matthews.
"It's so wonderful to see the Amarillo community come and support all of the great things that Martha's Home is doing," said Mary Kay Kuhrts, Marketing Director. "All of the proceeds benefit Martha’s Home, here in town. At Martha's Home, we provide shelter, support, assistance, and second chances to homeless women and mothers with children."
"When you're blessed to have a place to call home, sometimes you forget what being homeless means," says John Luciano, General Manager of Street Volkswagen. "Being a homeless mother with children means worrying about what to feed your children and where you're going to sleep tonight."
Martha’s Home steps in to provide refuge, safety, security, a home for those without one, and a wide range of programs to help women and children in need rebuild their lives and re-enter society as self-sufficient and responsible citizens. In addition to caring for the daily physical needs of their residents, Martha’s Home offers more than just a hand out, they provide a hand up. Martha's Home offers case management, referral services, life necessities, and housing assistance."Martha's home encourages women to empower themselves, both emotionally and physically," says Kuhrts. "We want women to realize their unique potential." The women at Martha’s Home work to further their education, securing full-time employment, and gaining personal living skills to become productive in the community.
