Mike Good, General Manager at Street Toyota sponsored four students from the Ukraine for two weeks. The students visited the US on an educational trip and visited multiple businesses in the city, including Street Toyota.

During a period of two weeks, Street Toyota General Manager, Mike Good, hosted four students from the Ukraine. While the students were here in Amarillo, he coordinated visits to top businesses in the area.

The students from the Ukraine arrived in Amarillo on Thursday, November 20, 2016 for a two-week trip. The trip was not only an educational and a cultural experience, but it was also a chance for them to practice their English. The students varied in age from 9 years of age to 14 years.

We are rarely given the opportunity to show and demonstrate what our community can do for others, who don't live here in the U.S. Taking these kids around and giving them an opportunity that they would most likely not have in their home was great because we gave them hope.

“Many of these students experienced the war first-hand in the Ukraine,” Merlina McAffrey, Hughes Real Estate Realtor said. “Some of the students, who joined us, have lost family members or have family members still fighting in the war.”

The students from the Ukraine stayed with Host Families to experience a true authentic stay. While visiting Amarillo, the students were given a tour of some of our local businesses. Some of the businesses they toured included West Texas A&M University, Boys Ranch, Bell Helicopter, Street Toyota, KAMR, Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, City Hall and Dove Creek Ranch.
