Calling All Slug Bugs Car Show

Street Volkswagen of Amarillo will host their 6th Annual Car Show at the dealership on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, beginning at 11 a.m.

Street Volkswagen of Amarillo will celebrate its five-year anniversary of business with their 6th Annual Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at their dealership on Soncy Road.

The celebrations will begin Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Street Volkswagen, located at 5000 South Soncy Road in Amarillo, Texas. Community members are invited to the free event and are encouraged to participate for a chance to win prizes. Street Volkswagen and Amarillo National Bank will be cooking bratwursts, hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone to enjoy. Participants in the show are asked to arrive between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to set up.

This car show is for our customers and friends who continue to support us through the years. It's a lot of fun and everyone has a great time celebrating everything about Volkswagen.

John Luciano, General Manager

“It’s our biggest party of the year,” General Manager John Luciano said. “We started this tradition in 2013 and quickly realized we needed to make it an annual event.”

Although the official name of the car show is “Calling All Slug Bugs,” anyone who owns any model Volkswagen vehicle is invited to participate. In previous years, the company has welcomed Beetles, Buses, Things and Karmann Ghias.

“This car show is for our customers and friends who continue to support us through the years,” Luciano said. “It’s a lot of fun and everyone has a great time celebrating everything about Volkswagen.”

Participants will have the chance to take home prizes from over 20 different categories such as Best of Show, Best Paint, Best Sound, People’s Choice and many more.

Kicking off the morning will be Caffeine & Cars, a group of individuals who meet for coffee and to talk about cars. The gathering begins at 10 a.m. and goes until noon. Proceeds of the events will go directly to Young Life of Amarillo.

“We invite everyone out to our celebrations on Saturday, Sept. 15,” Luciano said. “You won’t want to miss a ‘Thing.’”
